چکیده

AbstractBackground A direct comparison of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 positive patients with a negative control group undergoing an operative intervention during the current pandemic is lacking, and reliable estimate assumed difference in morbidity mortality between both patient categories remains unknown. Methods We included all consecutive confirmed pre- or postoperative status (operated 27 hospitals) 4 emergency elective operations. propensity score-matched clinical outcomes was performed tested (control group). Primary outcome overall 30-day rate groups. Main secondary were overall, pulmonary, thromboembolic complications. Results In total, 161 342 this study. The greater cohort compared (16% vs 4% respectively; P = .007). After score matching, consisted 123 (median 70 years age [interquartile range 59–77] 55% male) 196 matched 69 (interquartile 58–75] 53% male). risk (12% 4%; .009 odds ratio 3.4 [95% confidence interval 1.5–8.5]; .005, respectively). Overall, pulmonary complications occurred more often (P < .01). Conclusion Patients diagnosed perioperative have increased mortality, complications, events. These findings serve as evidence-based argument to postpone surgery selected cases.
